A week ago on Saturday, Oct. 4th, a special gathering of friends, family, and colleagues met at the Center for the Arts & Culture @SJB to celebrate the life of one unique and very special young woman in all our lives, Danielle Locario, who returned home to the Lord late last month. It was an emotional afternoon for all who attended the special occassion.. but the spirit in the center was joyous, loving, uplifting, and simply blessed.

The Center's walls were beautifully adorned with Danielle's favorite artwork and paintings from the Center, while her favorite songs played in the background throughout the afternoon. Family members, friends, co-workers, and fellow volunteers from Bedford Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps (where Danielle served as a Deputy Chief and volunteer EMT), took turns sharing their feelings and memories of Danielle, and the great outpouring of love was moving and very inspiring. Individual after individual stepped up to the open-mic and made us laugh and cry as everyone just embraced our memories of Danielle, and we found great comfort and support in celebrating her life together, and the great impact Dani made in each of ours.

Danielle's family, friends, and co-workers packed the

Our great friend and extraordinary poet, Malik Canty,

blessed us all with his deep poetry

Other special guests who knew Danielle came to share poetry, sing songs, and we were all treated to a very special dance from the wonderful teen dance group, What You See Is What You Get, from St. John's parish, that was choreographed by Ms. Aloha Peartree and dedicated to Danielle.

As you can see, this celebration of Danielle's life in honor of her 25th birthday was an afternoon that touched our hearts and had us all praising the Lord for blessing us with the gift of Danielle during her time on this earth. The following videos are short clips of individual testimonies in memory of Danielle from her birthday celebration at the Center that we invite all of Dani's family, friends, and guests of the Center's blog to view and take into your heart. We hope these testimonies and memories of Danielle touch your heart as they have ours.. and help bring some peace and healing from the sorrow we all feel in Danielle's passing through celebrating her life. In that way, we know she is always going to be with us.. in our hearts.. forever.

Hey Glenn I read your blog. I love what you guys did for Danielle. It was really nice. I'm sure she's still thanking you. I wish I could have made it. My midnight work schedule sucks. I will always remember her. She was a tough cookie. Take care Glenn.

Daniel,
the Lord always love you and prepare a place for you, but I will always have you in prayer before and after. God bless you and rest in peace.

You know who..

On the invitation of my friend Richie, I walked in on a celebration of life and not death. Although young, Danielle seemed a wonderful person to have known. I am sorry I had not known her personally.

I am blessed to have had U in my life as my friend, my sister, and one of my greatest inspirations. Thank U for your love, your smile, and for being there for me when I needed U. U really went out of your way sometimes. U just don't know how much it meant to me to have U be a part of everything. I miss you dearly, girl. But U are in my heart always.. and feel you at the Center every time I'm in there.. watching over everything.. and me. God keep you in His Arms. Look forward to being with U again to share in one of your sweet hugs. Give Br. Joe my love and blessings. I know you two must be together.. blessing us.. from heaven. Wow.. U are my angel now and forever, Dani.

Glenn
